New student clueless with Japanese? Old-timer who wants to brush up the skills? We have good news for you! Last Sunday, September 4, AFSJ debuted yet another of its lineup of activities for 2004-2005, when a motley crew of AFSJ members sat down for a serious session of Japanese language learning. The Japanese Language Class Project was spearheaded by Joy Jumawid, AFSJ's incumbent vice-president, and a current holder of first (highest) level Japanese language proficiency certification. The project was started with the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in mind. I'm writing this article as a student of that class. I can sum it up in 2 words: astig sya. I guess it really is different kung mga kapwa Pinoy ang mga nagtuturo. There was a certain level of interaction I never found in my official Japanese classes at my university. Iba din kasi pag kaya mong kausapin sa Tagalog ang iyong sensei. The first meeting was basically a discussion on basic expectations on how the class should be conducted, but we did see to it to brush up our skills on Japanese grammar. The latter part of the class was devoted to learning some beginner to intermediate level Kanji. We also got to meet two of the teachers who will be conducting the series of lectures, which will go on until December of this year. I'm writing this article on the morning of the second class day, at hindi ko pa nagagawa ang assignment ko, at parang mahirap ata pag nagalit yung mga teacher. So dito na lang muna kasi kailangan ko nang mag cram. We hope to see you in the next sessions! |
