The Poetry of Chopin and Lizst:
A Passion for Gawad Kalinga

Gawad Kalinga Japan is producing a piano concert entitled “The Poetry of Chopin and Lizst: A Passion for GK,” to be held on October 10, Friday, at the Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall in Shinjuku. Performing at this event is Abelardo Galang II, Grand Prix winner of the 1992 Piano Competition in the Philippines . Mr. Galang studied in Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo under the JASCAA Foundation scholarship, and was the first and only scholar to be sent for extended studies to Hanns Eisler Hochschule fuer Music in Berlin , Germany . Currently, he performs as soloist, recitalist, and chamber artist in Asia and Europe .

Gawad Kalinga (in English, “giving care”) is an integrated, sustainable, holistic program, which aims to address poverty in the Philippines by transforming and empowering poor communities through its various programs.
